Three Sisters!

sistersbannerI’ve been blessed with three lovely and talented daughters, Maura, Emilia and Eva. As a proud papa, I could go on and on about them – but why listen to me when you can listen to them?

Eva is the youngest.

She’s just recorded a handful of songs that she wrote. You can click on her photo – or click here – to hear what she sounds like.

Her mother and I believe she got that smoky, bluesy voice by screaming and crying herself hoarse as a tiny child. (Guess that’s how she paid her dues.)

Emilia is the middle child: the wild child.

For some reason, she’s taken to writing and performing comedy sketches. Where did that come from?

Emilia PostYou can enjoy Emilia’s comedy here – or by clicking on her picture. She’s been making us laugh since she was very young. Emilia wrote her first joke when she was four years old.

“Why do dinosaurs smell so bad?” Answer: “Because they’re ex-stink!”

IMG_6471Maura is the big sister with the big voice.

She sings like an angel – and writes with soul.

You can catch her solo act as Ms. Maura, or see her perform with various bands in Los Angeles. You can explore what Ms. Maura is up to by clicking on her photo – or clicking here. Check her out live – or download her album, Reversible Lobotomy.

I remember Maura running around the house you lived in in Chicago. Lake Shore Drive I believe. I remember it being referred to as the Practical House. Maura was always wanting to be a part of everything going on with so many people to interact with. Good times.

Having known Maura as a very young, very intelligent, talented and just delightful child, I can only imagine the absolute joy you have with all three….

Jerry! I believe it was you and me chugging out a 1-4-5 with Maura in the lobby of the John Lennon as Maura penned her first classic “Bobby Jo Jo” at age 2. I think I am recalling that correctly. It certainly was a magical time so my memory could have transformed itself.

    and oh yeah,
I am constantly blown away by the Three Sisters.
Just a few years ago I heard Eva picking up the guitar for the first time, and then 5 months later I heard recordings of her playing some songs she wrote. Yikes! She commanded the guitar like she had been playing one her entire life and with such talent! And what a sweet voice!
And Emilia, I was fortunate enough to have rocked out with her and enjoy her blazing guitar chops back in ’07. Then her and her bud, Mori rocked it as Riffmaster and The Rockme Foundation’s opening act in ’10, with Emilia on keyboard. Then I sawr her kick it with their rap duo, Damn Straight. Fun!
And Maura always is a joy. I recall her walking through the Rockme equipment strewn about on the JLA stage and straight to the microphone and started to get down, then she stopped, no amplification, then she went to the P.A. board and turned it on, then back to the mic to rock out. I believe she was between walking and talking at this point. To this day Maura continues to amaze me.
And when the three get together, sooooooo fine!

  5. As the middle of three sisters myself, I of course identify with Emilia, and congratulate all the parents – related and otherwise – on raising such amazing, talented & gorgeous young women.

  6. Thanks for the plug, dad! XOXOXO

    When are we getting together?
